AHHhhh, viz AND PICS!!, and here we are going on a divecruise Sunday, GrandTurk, St Thomas--we even are going shore diving at San Juan, PR. Sure hope we have some viz at BHB when we return.

In Cayman as we speak... _B300106.jpg

We are considering driving up North and doing the bhb on 12-6, high tide is at 220pm. Would the best time to enter the water be at 120pm. Slack etc
Thnx

Great dive today at the BHB - viz back up 20ft+... Lot's to see Southern Stingrays, 2 stargazers, batfish, pipefish, a ton of hairy blennies... someone saw a manatee, another a baby eagle ray, some saw baby seahorses.

I lost a Woody's macro lens diopter on the West side towards the end of my dive - somewhere between the channel and 1st set of pilings on the way North towards the fishing pier end. If anyone finds it, I'd appreciate it's return. Thanks, Jason jasonuwphoto@gmail.com

Not gonna post something as a 100 percent dyed in the wool for sure sighting til I ask. Has anyone ever seen porpoise at the bridge?

Dolphins are in the intracoastal on a regular basis. Certainly they "could" visit the bhb area. ..

So what did you see ?

porpoise or dolphin? I thought it was a dolphin. does it really matter though? I mean, cripes, how cool is that?

On another note, the vis was 15-30 and blue depending on where we went. Don't think I've ever seen so many hairy blennies..

A dead manatee was found recently at Peanut Island.

There were no visible signs of trauma. It was taken for a necropsy.

I think there was a story in today's paper, though it was light on details

Manatees found dead in Broward and Palm Beach counties. - Sun Sentinel

11/28 Dead manatee, gag grouper, and tripletail

Past week noticed a blue-green algae that later turned reddish pink after it dried on the shoreline of peanut island and same scum in the water. Went to Peanut Island today to dock the boat and saw a 8ft manatee belly up, flippers tucked under, and floating just beyond the dock. After noticing the dead manatee I saw a 32in Gag Grouper clinging to life with a belly full of air and a decent sized Tripletail floating dead just beyond the grouper. Three dead species all in the same area. Has anyone noticed anything else? FWC was notified and the Palm Beach County Sheriffs Office Marine Unit came a few hours later to escort the manatee to a FWC research team at a nearby ramp and I collected the grouper and tripletail to bring to the FWC Field Office in Tequesta. No markings were on the manatee to indicate a possible boat/object strike but will hear from the FWC when they find out cause of death. A water sample was also taken at time of reporting the manatee and fish as well but was told it could take weeks for results
