To get the Master Diver certification you need 3 things :
1) Being Advanced Open Water Diver
2) Being Stress & Rescue certified (this means that you are also EFR certified)
3) Has a minimum of 50 dives and 32 hours cummulated.

For 1) you need 4 specialties that requiere check-out dives. Nitrox, Equipment Techniques, Underwater Photography and Science of Diving do not count for this goal, so they do not count for Master Diver in the end. However, a further read of the standard you will find that Nitrox and Equipment Techniques are required for Dive Guide (first professional degree) and Dive Guide + Science of Diving = Dive Master (do not confuse Dive Master with Master Diver).

I just was contacted by a SSI rep who indicated that she will be sending me my Master Diver certification via the mail. I guess the short of this is it pays to inquire :)

Emoreira, I do not see those specialties listed in the 2013 standards for Dive Guide? am I missing something?
