I'm fine with beer after. If I drink before a dive, it's called narcosis preperation.

I usually have some 100 Plus or Pocari Sweat in summer

No matter how it tastes, the name of this Japanese drink makes me laugh.

I drink whatever is on the boat, or usually have a sports drink or energy drink waiting in the truck after a cave dive.
Booze follows later in the evening with a nice cigar for total relaxation :D

single malt.
Good man!

On my short, chill, reef dives I'm not so picky. My most recent trip to the keys had every day ending with a nice single malt and a cigar with my feet in the water.

On longer, deeper, more tiring days of diving....I'm lucky if I can limp back to the bed. Gatorade, water, and juices keep me going. Oh, I forgot to mention: KOOL AID JAMMERS!! $1 for a six pack? Yup.

I do, however, try to stay away from carbonation. Good hydration is key even if you're just doing deepish rec dives as it helps reduces DCS risk. Carbonation will dehydrate you to pieces. It makes my legs cramp to pieces.

Edit: I had to add this

evening with a nice cigar

That's what I'm talking 'bout!

It depends when and where I dive but usually we do or go for a lunch with a few beers. If not I head home, clean my gear first and eat and relax on the couch!

Tuborg in Pondicherry :)

I had a disastrous experience going into Saturation the morning after a heavy night out in Aberdeen. This was many years ago when I was young and reckless. It has made me as a very moderate drinker ever since. Usually a couple of beers in the evening.
