That would be awesome to witness.... Nice write up. we have these here in the bay of funday and usually only see them hiding under rocks.. even in the shallows.. I have never seen them out in the open. Just the basket Stars I have seen out in the open. great Photos!
 
This is the first time I've seen them out in the open in large numbers like that so I figured they were "up to something." I occasionally see one or a few up in the seaweed at night, but most of the time they remain hidden under rocks since our sheephead love to gobble up exposed brittle stars (but they sleep at night).
