Hi everyone, my name is Ralph. I'm a long time swimmer and fan of water sports... I've always had a passion for the ocean and all it has to offer, but most importantly I have great respect for what it is capable of. With that said, I'm entirely new to SCUBA and want to make sure I do this right... any advice in what class to take, what gear to buy/rent, and where to dive is greatly appreciated.

I live in Southern California, LA area, and I hope to get certified in the next few months.

I look forward to chatting with you all!

Ralph the gear you decide to buy should reflect the water you are diving in along with the temps. I typically dive in colder water so i wear either a semi dry or a dry suit. Get gear that you are comfertable with. With some of my gear i dont need a weight belt due to the fact that my bcd is weight intagrated . But it is all personel choice on which type of gear you choose to buy you will find that when buying gear that there are many options with choosing you set up but that is what makes your gear your gear because it is set up the way you want it
