Hello socal divers,

I'm here on holiday for a few weeks and planning to dive Catalina Island on Monday or Tuesday - is anyone else going to be there buddyless and prepared to buddy up with a uk based PADI DM for a few fun dives?

If you are doing Casino Point you will have no problem finding a buddy there. Never had a problem finding a buddy or a couple of divers that wouldn't mind me coming along with them. That is probably one of the few locations I would go solo without second thoughts but with the right equipment and mind set. Not recommended however if this is your first time regardless of whether you solo dive or not. It would be nice to dive with someone that has done it before and point out some of the highlights.

Been seeing giant sea bass near the deep end of the su jac wreck FYI. At the Park. 25meters.

I may be down there today for a dive, but I have a specific assignment that will require me to sit pretty still on one or a few spots in the dive park. Boring for a non-imager.

Thanks for the offer drbill - I will want to be taking some pics for the scrapbook but since it's my first time there I'll be exploring a bit too.

Thanks again - have a good dive :)

Conditions were pretty good yesterday... perhaps not the 90-100 ft visibility reported by divers over the weekend but still pretty awesome. Made for a great opportunity to film the devastation of our dive site due to the warm water conditions and previous hurricane surge

I'm glad you managed to achieve what you set out to achieve.

I'd heard that the change in climate was affecting the area adversely :(

We're seeing climate changes back home too but mostly we are enjoying it, our bottom temps can be as low as 4 degrees inland and 6-7 coast so any increases are welcome, particularly during surface intervals.- I'm sure that in the near future we will be seeing unwelcome changes but to the average diver such things aren't apparent yet.

I've re-scheduled my Catalina day for next week on account of being too jetlagged for a 6am start so might get to see you over there anyway. Thanks for the continued feedback :)
