Hi,

I have been looking at the DC1400 and the MicroHD cameras and am wondering about how they both do on land. Since the DC1400 can be taken out of its housing, it would appear to be a reasonable camera for land use. The MicroHD documentation suggests that it can be used on land as well but I am wondering if the fisheye lens effect would make it undesirable. All of the photos I have seen are underwater, not on land.

Does anyone have feedback about using these cameras for pictures on land?

Thanks!

Not yet but i am going to be using the DC1400 tomorrow and Saturday both above and below water. Will let you know how it does.

Hi there,

I am a SeaLife dealer in So Cal, and I can tell you that you hit the nail right on the head. The MicroHD is a great little underwater camera. On land it is less than great. The DC1400 is simply awesome underwater or out of its housing on land. I love the DC1400 and my customers are buying them up like crazy right now....of course I am sure the $100.00 instant rebate is helping some. LOL

If you have any questions, please let me know. I would be happy to help you.

Both the DC1400 and Micro HD can easily be set to Land Mode using the onscreen Easy Setup Guide, instantly removing any color correction adjustments for underwater. We've seen great topside shots with both cameras - we'll be sure to get some above water shots in our Micro HD photo gallery soon.
