Hi all - just got jack of all my masks. About 10 years ago I had a great mask, fitted like a glove and never leaked. Damn it I can't remember what manufacturer it was as I had it for about 5 years before I lost it. I own about 5 masks and they all feel OK in the store but hurt, have to be too tight or leak on a dive.

Anyone out there, male, with a big nose and a face mask that actually fits? Volume etc etc are secondary to comfort. :(

SeaDive makes awesome masks with large nose pockets. I tried about 40 masks in shops, and these were by far the most comfortable for my nose, with a great seal. The shop owner where I got certified, with a longer nose than me, also swears by them.

Hood of course makes a difference on the seal. When using a Fourth Element hood, which covers a lot of the face and gets in the way of the mask skirt, I have to play with it a minute or so before descending to make sure I have an air-tight seal.

Vegan that is exciting, will look for a supplier in Australia.

I found that Aqualung, Tusa and Mares masks have larger nose pockets. The single lens styles generally cause a problem for me with the bridge. I tried the Atomic masks and while they sealed nice the bridge got in the way.

Thanks Mike I have a Tusa and a Mares mask at the moment, so my hooter is larger than yours! HA HA. Will have a look at Aqualung - my friend (see Jethro Tull).

I am going to try a freediving mask and one is being sent to me. The shop owner, who's also a scuba diver is sending it down to me to try out. The mask is called a Piccasa anyone used one of these?

Will continue to look for a SeaDive mask in Australia but after an hour of internetting my life away NOTHING! I can buy one on ebay but only 2 models neither of which say anything about medium to large that the US site mentions. Bit reluctant to spend 140 on a hope and a prayer....

I have a good-sized schnoz and have been using the Scubapro Frameless for years... Love it (Well, them, I have two, in case I lose one on a trip!)

SCUBAPRO - FRAMELESS

I see they have three sizes now... mine is the original.

Which models? I use the SeaDiver, which is their basic mask and I believe cost me like $45. While I don't have nose measurements, as a point of reference the first thing elementary students say when they see me is, "Your nose is so tall!" Sure they're Japanese kids, so any white guy nose looks large to them, but still :D

I use a Picasso mask. They are very low volume and have much smaller lens' than I'm used to but it works ok so far (only used it a handful of times) I have to play with the strap position to get it to seal on most dives. I have found having the strap ride MUCH lower than I normally do has been working.

I have a narrow face and as far as I can tell a pretty nomal nose so can't really help with nose pocket size comparisons.

Vegan: everyone in the world pays less than we do. We are a soft compliant nation that everyone rips off!

If it makes you feel better, Australian scuba prices are way cheaper than Japan's
