Wow. I am in complete shock. Lynne was indeed always a voice of reason here. Always willing to help out a new diver with very good advice.
She has been a staple here on SB since I joined just 3 years ago.

Peter, I am very sorry for your loss. I hope the outpouring of comments and emotion here on SB gives you some sense of relief from what must be incredible grief.

I am so stunned. She was the most wonderful and the kindest person here on SB. My condolences to you and the whole family. May Allah give you the patience to endure her loss.

As mutual lovers of Puerto Aventuras, we always thought we'd coincidently meet there someday. I always appreciated her candor and insight. Peter, I cannot begin to imagine your grief. As you can see by the many posts here, it is shared by this entire community.

God Bless You Both, and may she Rest in Peace.

Very sorry to hear this very unexpected news.

I've typed, backspaced, re-typed and cancelled posts multiple times since I first read about this last night. Nothing I wrote seemed like it was enough to describe how I felt or how sincerely I wanted to express my condolences to Peter, their family and friends. Most of all, none of it did justice to Lynne.
She was one of my absolute favorite people on SB and you knew she was just as amazing, caring, supportive and helpful in person as she was online. You just did.

Once again, my condolences, love and support to Peter, family, friends.

It is tragic when one of our community members falls. It is even more tragic when they fall and can no longer get up. Despite our abilities, talents, confidence, and skills we enter the water each time knowing that we are a guest in an alien world. Lynne was a formidable feature within the recreational diving community. She was a friend to many who knew her well, and a friend to those who did not. She and I were acquaintances; we never shared a drink or a meal together, or for that matter dived together.

During the past ten years, I observed her growth in our sport from afar. Lynn was tenacious and at times headstrong, however, she also knew where she was comfortable and where she was not. Those who are very close to her reached out to me instantly with the tragic news. After saying a prayer for her soul, a poem came to the forefront of my thoughts. From my view, it fits Lynne well.

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul
~~ William Henley 1875

Life is fragile embrace it with all you can as Lynne did every day.
Godspeed to her soul. Compassion and condolences for Peter, their family and friends.

With deep sympathy.

I'm rarely on ScubaBoard anymore, but I've read every post here and on the Accidents and Incidents thread.
Literally the LAST person I would expect to read about in this way.
We were FB friends, but I only met her once during my Fundies class.
Such an extraordinary person in every way.
