We're flying MAYAir from Cancun to Cozumel next week. What's the deal with Lomas? Will we need to change terminals (didn't know there was more than one terminal in Cancun)?

Thanks for the earlier "like" btw.

Jim

The Cancun airport has 3 terminals. It is my understanding that Mayair uses Terminal 1 (we used to go through T1 on charter flights). Depends on your airline whether you go through immigration/customs at T2 or T3. There is a free shuttle between the terminals.

No problem at all. Simply arrive go through immigration and customs. Walk outside the airport. When you are outside where all the people with the signs for resort buses are located, look for the guys from Lomas in the turquoise shirts and white pants. They will be easy to find. Tell them you are flying Mayair. They will call a LOMAS shuttle to pick you up if one is not there. It will drive you to the FBO Terminal, NOT Terminal 1,2, or 3.

There is a terminal shuttle operated by the airport. DON'T USE IT. It is slow and you get a FREE direct ride from LOMAS.

After you get to FBO, just inside on the left if the bag check in. It is a SMALL areas, so it is obvious. You will check everything smaller than a backpack. There is no overhead storage. They should combine all the bags for your group and average the weight out. Most flights are 20 KG per person.

Then when it is time, they will run you though a little security thing and escort you out to the aircraft.

I am leaving in a hour to catch the 0800 Mayair to Cancun. Love that Mayair.

Great - thanks. If we're over 20 kg per person (there's just 2 of us), do they just charge more, or is that an absolute maximum they allow?

Ah - just saw the answer to my last question on the Mayair site. They charge $3/lb for weight over 44 lbs (20 kg).

If one pre-arranges a flight from Cancun to Cozumel on their website, the charge is $63. Is there an advantage to paying on site in Cancun--i.e., will the charge then be $38 for available seats? How likely are they to be sold out? If they are sold out or the flight cancelled, how difficult is it, and how long will it it take to travel via land/water to Coz at around 6PM?

I'm booking this for February because I can get free air to Cancun. Two questions.
1. How long should I allow to get through customs and get to the Mayair terminal? Is 2 hours enough?
2. Once you arrive in Cozumel, do you have to go through customs again, or just walk out and get a cab?

1. Sure. The afternoons get long, but it should be ok.

2. No, get off the plane, get the bags and walk out.

Oh, but no cab. You STILL either need to get on the cattle bus shuttle OR walk off the airport grounds to 65, make sneaky eyes with a taxi guy and jump it.

It's maybe a good question, though. When the big planes come in there are shuttles waiting, but when a little Mayair flight comes in, what then?
