Who changed my name?

If you had a custom title it did not change ...

So how do I get a custom title? Something like "Solo Diver"

Is it still true that if you join a group (like Solo Divers), you can choose that title instead of the default title?

They opened up the old Solo Divers, no longer a permission group.

There are two ways to change your user title.
One is to join a User Group, unfortunately this is not working at the moment.
The other is to become a Supporting Member

This is the same as it's always been.

Once you are a Supporting Member you click on "Account" in the top right corner then right below your avatar you can change the Custom Title

So eventually when the user groups are sorted out the title under my name will revert back to Solo Diver?
