Recommended message board by my instructor. New diver but averaging 5+ dives weeks in the past 9 months as it's the #1 recreation on Kwajalein. When I'm not diving, I'm studying theory, techniques and furthering my coursework. Currently, Divemaster in training and scheduled for IDC in December.

Welcome. Having been to Kwaj a number of times crewing C-141's, I totally understand why you dive, lol. During instructor training I had a room-mate who was a firefighter on one of the out islands< I can't remember the name, but he said it was remote. Good luck with your pro training!

howdy and welcome from southeast Florida ...far from remote Kwajalein.....happy diving..would love to see photos form there.

Thanks for the warm welcome Rushman. I'd love to dive Florida someday. Although I have quite a few photos (I'll upload one day) I'm more of a video gal. Here is my tiny YouTube Channel of the amazing underwater paradise I've amateur video-taped in the Marshall Islands. Sharon Rice

thanks you for sharing your channel...happy diving to you.

Welcome to Scubaboard!

. . .And Kwajalein is home to the most "exclusive" and active Scuba Club in the Pacific:
Kwajalein Scuba Club

For a Bikini Atoll Expedition in 2013, we deplaned from the early morning Honolulu United Flight on Kwajalein/Bucholz Army Airfield, and were IMMEDIATELY escorted to the ferry transport terminal for transfer to Ebeye, where we embarked on our liveaboard for the 30 hour open ocean crossing up to Bikini Atoll.

Is there a "open" (public access) dive shop/dive operation now on nearby Ebeye Island as well?

Kevrumbo, negative. We are the most exclusive and most active. We fill about 1,400 tanks a month. Kwajalein IS an Army installation; therefore is closed to the public and you have to be sponsored by a resident. I'll private message you further with information. Ebeye is a "developing" nation city at best and has no outfit. They do have a dive shop in Majuro (the capital) however but it is an hour flight from Kwaj.

Thanks Tom! There are a few quiet islands not including Kwaj. Roi-Namur, Carlos and Meck are those where we have folks. Roi-Namur is home to the quasi-famous Airplane Graveyard. My friend, Brandi Mueller has been featured quite a bit with her amazing photos of this location. Over 150 airplanes were disposed of in the lagoon of Roi-Namur, thus the name. Incredible photos of some of the 150 U.S. WWII aircraft lying in the Airplane Graveyard in the Pacific

sorry for the late reply, I'm traveling in South East Asia. Internet is spotty. Yes it was Roi-Namur.
