Hello all

Me and my friend are planing going on a dive trip in February. First we are staying around 5 days in Singapore and than we would like to go diving for 1 week to 10 days around Asia.
First we thought about Bali, but weather isn't really nice there in February. Anyway we are looking for some suggestions near Singapore (4-6 hours flight max).

Thanks
Regards
Felix

Way too many options from Singapore. Depends a lot on your budget and what you like to see. Bucket list items would be liveaboards in Raja Ampat (Indo), Komodo (Indo) and others in the region. Also Sipadan (Malaysia) and Richelieu Rock (Thailand). Resort diving would be places like Puerto Galera, Malapascua, Bohol, etc (all Philippines). You're only going to have time to see a fraction of what is available in South East Asia alone.

Indonesia's average rainfall has been off the last couple years, the last 2 years were really dry around Indonesia, Bali and Komodo included.

Although February is historically rainy season in Komodo it's a rather temperate (arid) climate and rainfall is minimal compared to other tropical destinations.

We've touched on the climate in Weather or Not to Go to Komodo. Maybe it will help you decide if Komodo is the right place at the right time for you.

Wherever you end up enjoy you dive holiday!

Cheers

As Adelaar said, the rain seasons have been off of late in Indo including Bali. This year, we had way more rainfall in August than February. Anyway, during a "normal" rain season, it's mostly raining late afternoon or mid-night and many coastal areas rarely see rain for more than a couple hours per day.

Phelis, if you want great diving close to Singapore, I suggest you either the Southern Visayas (Mactan airport in Cebu) or the Similan Islands (Phuket Airport)

You have direct flights from Singapore to Cebu with Cebu Pacific, Tiger airways, Philippines Airlines and Singapore Aiways - the flight is only 3h45 long
You have direct flights from Singapore to Phuket with Air Asia and the flight is only 1h45

Cheers

For the best diving Raja Amat if it's in your budget, or Komodo for a few bucks less, or Bali for even less.

Yes Bali is rainy season but it's not normal this year and even when it's normal it doesn't rain all day.

There is quite cheap diving at Una Una volcano Sanctum... very good, there is macro, and pelagic too, basic place very remote but very good diving :)
