Chicago Area Diving Legend Bud Brain Passed Away Thursday Jan. 5th.

On 01/05/2017 Bud Brain, a Chicago area diving legend, passed away at the age of 94. Many of us knew Bud, but for those that do not, let's just say that he was one of the pioneers of local diving. He caught the diving bug early and soon became a PADI diving instructor, with the number of 30! He took part in many Lake Michigan shipwreck discoveries and explorations, and is especially remembered for his work on raising the schooner Alvin Clark from the depths of Green Bay, in Wisconsin, in 1969.

There will be a service for Bud on Saturday, 1/7/2017, at Damar Kaminsky Funeral Home at 7861 S. 88th Street in Justice, IL from 9:00am to 01:00pm.

I never met Bud but I suspect our paths crossed some where in the fifty years he was active in recreational diving.

He is a a person all basic divers hope to become and all old broken down divers wished that they had become.
