On Monday, April 3, the Palm Beach Post reported that shark fins were discovered in the hold of a commercial shrimping boat. The vessel was boarded Wednesday by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers. Shark finning is illegal in Florida, but is still a problem. Conservation and fishery groups are waiting to see what penalties will be levied on these alleged poachers if found guilty.
Does anyone on SCUBABoard know more about this incident? Can you help us put together the details of this story? Please add your comments and additional information below.
