Hey all, thinking about planning a Galapagos live aboard either for next May or May 2019 if I'm still alive and kicking. Any thoughts on going that time of year and boat suggestions?

Hi MitchB,

A few bits of information for you.

First, May is the very end of warm season, which is best for schooling hammerheads and other sharks. The conditions are better for those who suffer from seasickness, as the waves and currents are mild. Visibility is good, too.

May 2018 is selling out quickly. It’s about half sold out depending on which week you’re looking at. However, May 2019 is still wide open.

As far as boat suggestions, you might find our article about the best liveaboards in the Galapagos insightful. It really depends what you’re looking for in a boat and what your budget is.

In general, we recommend:

Luxury: Galapagos Sky and Majestic Explorer

Mid-Range: Humboldt Explorer and Galapagos Aggressor III

Budget: Nortada

I hope this helps. Don’t hesitate to send us a message if you have any other questions.
