i am interested in one of these cameras. I was leaning toward the DC2000 but in doing my research it appears the TG5 is a great camera. Any thoughts on the pros and cons of each?

You'll find fanboys for both cameras. One clear distinction for the TG5 is its macro capabilities, which are extremly good without any add-on lenses. They both shoot RAW, which is critical. TG5 does 4k video, and (according to reviews) has better build quality. My impression is that the point-and-shoot/fish-portrait crowd is quite happy with the DC2000, but the creative types who want more hands-on camera possibilities like the TG5.

I think the sensor on the DC2000 is bigger if that means anything.

Larger sensor and 16 bit raw, so greater detail available in the DC2000 photos. May not matter in photos where there aren't gradients involved (macro) but will definitely apply when blue water is in the shot. At least the TG5 is 12 bit, so not as bat as 8 bit for those gradients.
