That's an interesting article; one thing about this thread in this forum section, it may focus more on the ramifications for businesses as opposed to us consumers.

I wonder what this will mean for non-PADI affiliated dive op.s? If the LDS uses SSI or SDI, I imagine they won't wish to promote a dive travel agency whose very name promotes their main competition's brand. Will the new dive travel agency give preference to PADI-affiliated resorts over others?

I don't know just how big/influential Diviac was, but a single dive training agency acquiring & rebranding it with their label may have far-reaching implications. I'm not anti-PADI; most of my cert.s are PADI. But I want there to be viable alternatives.
