as of now, the death toll increase to 832 and still going up. The number of causality in dong gala still very low (11), sure it's not the final figure.
According to facebook of Prince John dive resort (the only dive resort in Donggala); they only suffered minor damage. Hope this good news reflect the condition of that area.

Donggala was apparently the epicenter of the earthquake, I hope that information is correct.

According to the BBC news this morning no reports from Donggala yet as the roads are so badly damaged to access that area which has a larger population.
 
10 foot waves? They're common on the west of Ireland...

Wave height is only part of the story. Wave length of tsunamis can be many kilometers.

You are right - they are not the START of a chain of events in the region - they are PART of the tectonic life of the region.
