The Aggressor web site is a little schizophrenic right now; they are mixing images and info about the CA IV and the new CA V; but they have posted diagrams and specs for the new yacht, see the link below, but the page also displays photos of the CA V, so go figure.

Anyway, from the diagrams and specs it appears that there is more space onboard, larger eating areas, and larger cabins and no more bunk beds. Apparently they have used a similar design for their Cuban boat.

Sounds like it's 10 feet longer, 3 feet wider at max. width (beam), dining room and galley are on a separate floor from the lounge, and while there are still 'twin' staterooms, there's no longer an option for a 'twin share' where 2 twin staterooms share a bathroom (which may sound like a good thing, but those rooms were cheaper on the Cayman Aggressor IV). Seems like they've basically inserted a new deck; sun deck & upper deck separate (I was on the IV in 2016; memories fuzzier).

So yeah, the boat is souped up a bit, but I imagine the diving will be the same, so for us cheapskates, wonder what the (lowest available) trip costs will be?

Richard.

FYI @Rand just posted a Bahamas Aggressor trip report at the link below and said that the Cayman Aggressor IV will be refitted and launched as the new Bahamas Aggressor, the current BA is the former Peter Hughes Carib Dancer.

"...The Bahamas Aggressor is getting a new-ish boat. The Cayman Aggressor IV is going to be completely gutted and will become the new Bahamas Aggressor in the coming year or so. That will allow a bit more room, salon, and dive deck space for passengers..."

Has anyone been diving on the V yet? I'm considering a solo trip in late January and looking for recommendations.

I did a trip on the V in July .
It is a refurbished crew boat from Gulf of Mexico .
The extra deck makes it almost as high as it is long so she sways a lot , the crossing was rocky on a calm day , there will probably be way more weeks that it cannot make the crossing due to the sway.
There is no storage space under your seat , small cubby drawers for mask and small things .
It has more space for sure , not really a " better boat " , but definitely bigger
