I’m Justin, a 33 year born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. I’m a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) by trade. My biggest passion is working out and my biggest hobby is watch collecting.

I recently got involved in scuba diving because of my brothers recommendation and having a dive watch but not being scuba certified. I felt a sense of guilt wearing a dive watch and not knowing how to scuba dive. Thus, I signed up for classes and I got PADI open water certified in Ohio at a fresh water quarry.

A few months back I did my first dives after being certified in the Florida Keys. Brother and I dove in Key West, Marathon, Islamorada, and Key Largo. It was a great experience diving with my brother. Every dive for me was a learning lesson. I have to admit I was a “sting ray” at times and mucked up my brother’s visibility by hitting the seabed...oops.

I have two dive trips scheduled for the future:
  1. Grand Cayman in January where I’ll be doing my PADI advanced open water.
  2. Cozumel, Mexico in April.

Where is that popcorn emoji?????

Let us know how the watch collecting budget and the scuba gear budget get along. My scuba gear budget is a royal PITA to all of my other budgets. It really doesn’t play nice and it rarely feels guilty about it.

Oh, and Welcome!!

Hey man! Welcome on board. Caribbean is all great but dont forget you have some world class wreck diving in your immediate neighborhood.

You live in the greatest freshwater diving area in the world. Suggest you try some Great Lakes wreck dives next summer. The wreck diving is just absolutely awesome. It’s all I do unless I hit a quarry. I’m in the Chicago area n

Welcome aboard! Next task: get off your knees....neutral buoyancy and horizontal trim is your next goal. Tell your AOW instructor that is your goal. Make him help you.

Welcome to Scubaboard Justin. Enjoy yourself here. Lots of good people.

Sounds great, welcome aboard. You've got a couple of fine upcoming destinations. Where are you staying and who are you diving with in Grand Cayman and Cozumel? You can probably read up on them here if you haven't already.

Richard.

Thank you! The watch and scuba budget are very alike. They’re both addicting.
