All are welcome for a weekend
of
Diving, Camping, and Camaraderie!

ScubaBoard
Fool's Spring MegaDive 2019

Mark your calendars for
March 29th - 31st, 2019

Come for 1 day or the whole weekend.
All are welcome. This event is open to ALL dive levels, newbie, OW,
all the way to full cave certification.
If you don't have a buddy, don't worry, there are a bunch of us
and there's always someone ready for a dive!

On Saturday, Try Tech Gear.com will be joining us for a
Scuba Diving Gear Demo Day.

(They will be set up at the pavilion near the Ballroom from 10am - 5pm)

In addition, I will have available various
Reef Safe Sun Products you can try over the weekend.

Diving is set at your own pace, when and where you want in between eating and sleeping.
The only dive that is a scheduled dive will be the galaxy dive around dusk on Sat. evening.
As it is a family event, there are plenty of non-divers and kids too.

Ginnie Springs has a full-service dive shop and a pretty nice little store.
They also rent canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, and tubes for use on the river or bring your own.
Check out their website below for further info, park maps, and directions.
Ginnie Springs Or give them a call at Ginnie Springs Outdoors 1-386-454-7188
Dive Release Waiver
~ PLEASE NOTE GINNIE SPRINGS HAS RAISED THEIR RATES ~
CHECK THEIR WEBSITE ABOVE FOR DETAILS

When you get to Ginnie Springs, you'll need to check in the Main Office.
Please tell them you're with the ScubaBoard Megadive group
as we get a 10% discount on camping and diving!

If you check in on Friday and won't be diving until Sat.,
go ahead and pay for your diving at that time to get your wristbands.
It can get really busy on Sat. and you don't want to waste your time waiting in line again.
Sometimes we do a sunrise dive before the shop opens and
you don't want to miss one of the best dives of the day!
We have the whole Turkey Roost area reserved from the road back.

Park map and rules
Most of us will be tent camping.
There are separate sites for RV's and I do recommend reserving your spot if you are bringing an RV.
Some though do stay in town at the motel, but you'll miss a lot of the fun...
There isn't electricity where we're tent camping,
but there is electricity at the pavilion and bathrooms w/showers are a short walk away.
Don't forget to bring chairs for around the fire and bug spray if the bugs like you.
No need to make reservations (unless you're bringing an RV), just sign up here on this thread.
Let us know how many are attending in your party
and what you'll be bringing to pitch in for the group dinner and 2 breakfasts.
And please, would you be willing to help prepare or clean up for the meals?

If we all pitch in and take a task, it makes for a fun weekend for everyone.
Once a week up until the event, I'll update who's attending, the food list and volunteers.
Check for the latest list of ideas on what to bring and what's still needed.
If you're traveling a long distance to join us, why not add an extra day
or 2 on to make it worth your time.

Here the basic rundown for the weekend...

Friday
All meals will be on your own. Some will go out to dinner;
some will cook at the campsite. It's up to you.
Campfire
A little smores, a little music, a little singing, a little drinking(BYOB) or not,
keeping it mild in anticipation of the big day of diving on Sat.

Saturday

Lunch
On your own.
Scuba Diving Gear Demo Day

Megadiver's Attending and Food List
Post that your attending, any guests with you, what you would like to bring,
and if you can help out with some of the chores it would be appreciated.
I'll add your name to the list at the end of the week.
Hope this helps! :)

Cardzard (Dennis) and Roxanne - A cooler full of water, diet and diet sodas for the group dinner. Then for brkft, 18ct eggs, precooked bacon, sausage and ham, and some asst veggies for the omelets. 1-2 meat items for the grill and buns. And last but not least, Glow sticks for the galaxy dive.

For those who always ask what to bring. Here are some ideas...

Meat items for the grill (We're trying to keep it simple so it doesn't take forever to cook for the group)
(Please keep it to Hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, chicken breast and premade items like pulled beef/pork, meatballs, and shish kabobs. If you have something else you were thinking about and want to cook that yourself, that's great! Some have brought fryers or smokers and added to the meat items that way.) Don't forget the buns for items like hamburgers and hot dogs.
Eggs
(We never seem to have enough.)
Items for the omelets (additional meats, peppers, mushrooms, onions, olives, salsa, wraps, cheese, etc.)
Items for Breakfast (Juices, fruit, muffins, coffee, creamer, etc.)
Charcoal (I'll need several big bags of self-starting for the large grill)
Condiments (cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, ketchup, mustard, mayo, relish, BBQ sauce etc.)
Paper towels and napkins
Heavy-duty Paper Plates
(no Styrofoam please) and dessert plates.
Plastic silverware (We have plenty this time.)
Bottled water
Side dishes
(casseroles, baked beans, potato salad, macaroni salad, cole slaw, chips and dips/salsa, fruit salad, green salads w/dressing, veggie tray w/dip, etc.)
Deserts (Oh please don't forget the deserts!)
Tiki torches and fuel (for around the fire)
FIREWOOD FOR THE CAMPFIRE (Any amount would be appreciated!)

We also need Volunteers to help out during meals for the weekend. THANKS!!!!
If we all pitch in and take a task, it makes for a fun weekend for everyone.

If someone needs ICE on the way in,
there is a self-serve ICE machine when you leave High Springs
to turn on the road to go to Ginnie.
In addition to Ginnie's Springs store and dive shop,
Air Fills: Cave Country Diving - Home in High Springs where Salvo used to be.
(US Hwy 441)
There is a Winn-Dixie in High Springs, open 7 AM to 10 PM every day.
Also a Publix close to the Interstate 75.
There is also a CVS Pharmacy right next to the Hardees.
If you have any questions, just ask. One of us will respond.

Hi Roxie!!! Teri and I are still debating on what we will bring food/ supply wise, but I’ll post here when we figure it out. We will be down for all three days, her two daughters are iffy right now.

To everybody else, hiya! Do not adjust your phone or monitor, I AM in fact the Tao you know! Long story short, since the last y’all saw meive had cancer twice and came face to face with my own mortality. Which was enough to make me stop denying who I was. So congrats! I’m a girl!

This will be my first camping/ diving trip as Cadence, and given the potentially rough crowd that sometimes go to that park, I was hoping I could find a couple of allies within the group for restroom/ shower room visits.

Anyhow, msg me if you’d like my new Facebook page; I cannot wait to see everyone again or introduce y’all to Teri!!

Ever,
Cadence

Interested in going for sure. This would be a first for me both trip and diving wise. If I can’t end up camping on site how far away are the hotels:motels? Would I be missing dives by not staying on site? Also as far as the tank fills go. Do they have tanks I can rent Up there? Or would I need to bring some with me? If so how many tanks would be ideal? I’m ow and would be doing single tank dives

They do have rental tanks and fills at the front office. I usually get two or three tanks and at least one re-fill chip for each one to minimize my back and forth trips to the front or standing in line for refill payment... and losing my parking spot. LoL.

Camping is relatively easy there. And there are later activities like the galaxy dive and fireside activities that you may miss if you do the hotel. There are also sunrise dives that some folks do before the sun is even up, you’d miss those for sure as it’s too early to enter the park.

Oh and Roxie, no matter what Jenny says, I’m NOT a new member or camper!!! Lmao

My son, Daniel and I are going. I'm not 100% sure if Jennifer is coming or not.

I'll bring plates, nakkins, and a side dish. Probably some firewood, too - unless @scubafool waves us off.

Daniel will help with clean up.

When you sign in, you can sign for multiple days of diving: be sure to tell them at the front counter you're with SB. Then you can come and go as you please. The nearest hotel in High Springs is the Cadillac and there are a few others. You can also check with @Capt Jim Wyatt and Lake City Dive Shop to see if they have accommodations for you. You can rent tanks from Cave Country Dive Shop, Lake City Dive Shop as well as Monkey Scuba. Just call and let them know you're coming and they should be able to accommodate that as well. Camping at Ginnie is fairly easy and fun, but I need AC at night, so it's not for me.
