Noisy Apeks 1st stage

new SPGs tend to leak in the first 10 dives; closing the tank and purging the 2nd stage does not remove all gas from the system so you have to suck the gas off the 2nd stage to remove the pressure to be able to unscrew the 1st stage from the tank; lame flat o-rings take a moment to seal when opening the tank; etc.

Apeks does not make spg, probably originated from Italy.
I suspect the lever(2nd stage) was not set up properly(too low).
I actually prefer the Apeks O-rings(EPDM) than those from Trident(nitrile).

This is around 12 years old. Identical to a Thermo one. A bit jittery on the low pressure side but usable.

well if its face says "Apeks" i prefer to call it "Apeks" rather than "that chinese ODM who makes gear for Apeks"

btw the upper (metal body) model is the leaky one.

thats exactly what I say - the old Apeks regs & stuff is virtually indestructible while the newer gear tend to have lower quality.
