ATX 50 Rebuild myself options?

It cost me $150 for both my atx 50's to get rebuilt. Is there an option on how to do this myself or lean how to rebuild them? I have taken the equipment specialist but it didn't focus on my actual gear. Thoughts?

Frogkick and vintagedoublehose are the frequent recommendations for finding manuals and parts diagrams in general... I've been rebuilding old scubapro and aqualung regs, and it isn't rocket surgery. If you post your question over in the diy repairing your own gear section I suspect you'll get plenty of reg specific advice.

I haven't had to move a thread, but I suspect if you reach out to a moderator they could do it for you. In the mean time, I looked at vdh, and it looks like they have 2nd stage kits, I don't know of a source for apeks first stage kits though.
My experience so far with old AL and SP gear is that I don't need much in the way of specialized tools, but some make it easier. If you don't have an IP gauge, pick one up (they're cheap) and refer to the reg inspection checklist that's stickied in the diy section... you may not "need" to rebuild them. The DIY darkside is fun though!

While you are probably aware apeks/aqualung doesn't support self service of their gear the parts kits and manuals are available be careful of your sources yada yada etc...

You might look at buying/borrowing the Regulator Savvy book as it is good background info for the how and why a reg works as it does. The ATX50s aren't hard to work on and most first stages aren't too complex if you can follow the steps and work carefully it is doable.

Servicing a regulator is pretty straightforward. As mentioned, get a copy of "Regulator Savvy" Regulator Savvy (Spiral Bound) and/or Scuba Regualtor Maintenance and Repair SCUBA REGULATOR MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR by Vance Harlow to ground your knowledge of how regulators work. I personally know where they sell and have all rebuild kits for apex. Im in there frequently so I see them all the time. Northeast scuba supply. They sell rebuild kits for most apex aqua lung and atomic.

I think Apeks first stages are one of the easiest first stages to work on.
