Hey Kosta, I’ve used the Halcyon small plate often. Both confined and open water. I’m using the UTD soft plate now, really great size, flexible, some padding and easy to add weight options. They are cheaper than most of the rigid plates.

Thanks everyone. I should have stated that I plan on using Hogarthian harnesses, and the smallest single tank wing I can find (but that's a separate thing). I'm just having trouble finding specs on sizes. Not so concerned about weight. I'll have to experiment. Thanks for all the pointers.

I have my 9yo son in a Halcyon small plate with an 18lb Oxycheq wing. The Halcyon plate needs an STA, because there aren't slots in it. The harness isn't Hogarthian, but it allows some easy adjustment while he gets used to it.
