This is horrible news,,hoping for the best for all the divers and crew

Fuel leak? What could cause this? How could this have been prevented? What can be learned?

Sounds like 5 crew members escaped, and everybody else (i.e. all guests) are lost? Something went wrong at the galley at 5am?
Distress call came in around 3:30. Engine or compressor more likely but we may never know.

Horrible news, many great memories dating back to my time at UCSB....I was just on their website looking to schedule a dive next month :(
IIRC, the stairs from the bunk area run right into the galley. Obviously too soon to speculate the cause, but if a gallery fire you could have been trapped.... my best to everyone effected by these tragic events

Very sad day indeed. I have already received calls from distraught family members. My investigator is heading up there today.

if the stairs lead up to the galley, where does the emergency exit/emergency port lead to? the divedeck/engine room or the bridge?

i hope someone managed to make it to shore, although it clearly doesn't look good...those poor people.
