Title pretty much says it I'm wondering if any other brands use the the same algorithm as the shearwater.

all buhlmann with GF computers should be very similar. the downside is it mostly only comes on tech oriented computers. ostc, ratio, divesoft, divecomputer.eu.

I should clarify that I'm looking for a backup computer not a replacement.

I have dived about 150 repetitive dives with an Oceanic computer as my backup (running DSAT) to my Shearwater, even on 45/95 GF on the Shearwater (low conservatism). It works very well. DSAT is pretty liberal so works well as a result.

In the used market the Liquivision X1 and Xeo both have Buhlmann GF available, although the X1s are probably getting long in the tooth by now..

x1 screen is less likely to have fading issues. the dive rite nitek q is also in that category.
