They dump under the canvas of the night while underway.

I truly feel sorry for the (legal) dive ops that are going to be severely adversely affected by this, and totally outside their control. Hopefully either some compromise is made or some other sites are discovered. I still love Coz but honestly have to rethink my future travel if all I can get to is La Francessa and above.

As much as I dislike many of the posts in this thread, closing the southern dive sites will not change the ocean temperatures and reef bleaching, will not change the pollution of the water and algal overgrowth, will not prevent depletion of herbivores, and will do nothing to decrease the spread of SCTLD. It may allow for the systematic study of the area for future planning. No matter how you feel about Cozumel, it is under tremendous current pressure and its future is very uncertain. We owe it to the future to try to preserve it.

Dandy, go read my post again. #148. Here is the relevant part:

"Don, when you quit driving a gasoline vehicle, stop flying on airplanes, using products derived from fossil fuels, use natural gas or propane, electricity produced from fossil fuels, etc. you may be immune of calls of being a hypocrite."

That states that if you effectively stop using anything derived from fossil fuels then you can't be balled a hypocrite. Not that you are one. Maybe you are. Maybe not.

My lies? I have been around long enough to see fake science and "the world is ending" laments for decades. The climate change hoax is just the current iteration of that lie. I know. Many others do.

PS, if people believe in man-made climate change then do all the things I suggested above and.....wait for it...stop having kids. Live your carbon free life but stop trying to impact me.

This "climate change" mantra as justification for closing reefs is asinine, without basis and just plain stupid.

To speak with such authority on the subject, you must be highly educated in the applied and theoretical sciences, either that or you are just parroting what the "experts" are spewing on Fox News. I suspect the latter.

As mentioned above can we keep this to the closers and how it effects those of us going to or thinking about going to cozumel. Take your argument to another thread or pm.

Third time is the charm

Sorry, musta missed in the scintillating and informative global warming: Is it a fraud discussion?

Hopefully you scolded those folks as well? :p

You have not paid attention. This article references bleaching but is actually talking about SCTLD. Confusion in the media, and elsewhere, is quite common. Miscommunication, lost attempt at education. Possible southern reef closure
