I'm not so sure how safe golf is either. :)

Here is a link to an article I wrote back at the turn of the century about my encounter with a White Shark at Catalina Island. Didn't get attacked - fortunately. High Adventure at the High Spot ? Chance Encounter with a Great White Shark - California Diving News

Great response...
Btw do sharks attack only a lone person? What if i stay closer to the group... they might get intimidated by the group right?

Most shark experts acknowledge that to avoid attack a person does not have to be an exceptionally fast swimmer. He/she just has to be faster than at least one other diver in the group. :)

My mate just got back from somewhere

his breathing sounds a bit shemp
or is that video breathing

That sound is either your buddy or someone near him calling the sharks.

I've seen (and heard) it done with a plastic drinking bottle.

Where are you going diving? The sharks usually see the divers and skedaddle long before the divers ever get to see them.

I know it's hard not to be a bit worried but you shouldn't be.

. . . I hear that oceanic white tips attack divers periodically in Red Sea.

In the old Cousteau "Sharks!" documentary, they are in the Red Sea and stuff a dummy diver's wetsuit full of fish and wait for a white tip to come attack it. How long do white tips live and what do they remember?

I have never seen a shark underwater, but I have swum with nurse sharks (on purpose) and with spinner sharks (not on purpose). The only things that ever attack me are bluegills in quarries. If I see a bluegill following me, I keep my eye on it.
