We had poor visibility at Hermosa Artificial Reef...again. Visibility was a hazy ten feet with a lot of particulates limiting us to photographing only what was within three feet. Fortunately for us, the wreckfish, or Giant Sea Bass have become accustomed to our brief intrusions. Most would allow us to settle within two feet. One, in particular, was even more cooperative. While I was observing it from three feet away I began knocking two small rocks together. The large fish approached within two inches of my hand to check out the noise. I was tempted to act as a cleaner but thought better of it. I enjoy our close encounters and don't want to frighten the fish away.

Looks like ours are gone from the dive park. Haven't seen one for almost two weeks.

I had nineteen individuals two weeks ago. I haven't figured out how many we saw yesterday. Many of them are year-round residents at Hermosa Beach.
