I love my Cochrane's, bought 1 as recently as early 2018...sad that the company is gone. I wish I was able to get the NAVY ones, they had more advanced algorythm than the civilian versions. I have 2, EMC 20 and 16.
 
I have an EMC-14 from 2006 that still works perfectly, I still dive it occasionally for old time sakes. I guess I'm just lucky.
 
My wife adopted mine (20h). She finds the screen desirable, and I was able to get a SPG & compass console mount for her (she hates wrist mount). It was my back-up to my Petrel1, and that let me get a Pedrix AI. Darn the luck.... :)

I've owned 2, a Commander Air, and the 20h. Solid computers from my experiences. We have however come a long way since their inception.
