A group of us are planning on diving Lake Michigan off the Hammond, IN marina beach on New Year’s Day. We’re meeting at 10am. The harbor master will make sure the bathrooms are open. We’re going to dive the George F. Williams wreck that’s not far off the beach, about 15’-20’ deep. Come prepared for cold water diving. We do lunch after nearby.

This year the waves were 3’ so we ended up diving off the boat ramp instead, but viz was pretty bad. One guy did it wet!

Good luck, have fun, be safe Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

However much cold is good, wind is NOT! Keeping our fingers crossed the winds calm down. Right now there is a gale warning on the lake.

+1 (and cheers) for the wet diver!

It’s beginning to look a lot like nopemas. The dive boat doesn’t go out when waves are more than 3ft!
