Hi everyone,

I'm Bill and currently based on the East Coast in the US but am constantly on the move. I got certified about 2 years ago in a place that is absolutely not known for diving. Visibility was about my elbow and I loved every second of it regardless. I've since had the fortune of diving in south east Asia and the Caribbean and decided to join ScubaBoard as I think I'm going to get more serious about this hobby!

My partner (who has been diving much longer than I) and I are mostly travel divers (we don't dive "at home", just when we're travelling) so we've never amassed any gear and are currently on the fence about it. We've never had the misfortune of renting really terrible gear, though I suppose our standards might not be all that high--so far it's worked out fine. I recently purchased a mask and stopped myself there (I juggled the idea of fins but the sheer amount of options and incredible controversy over fin design was overwhelming, so I put that thought on the back burner). I would love my own set of gear but I don't think I have enough experience to know what I like yet (plus the idea of lugging around gear during travel is very unappealing).

We are off to the Bahamas and then Panama next--if anyone has tips or advice, that would be greatly appreciated (otherwise, we are very go with the flow kind of people).

Hope to learn lots more from you all!
