Call this out all the time, confirmation bias makes them pull things out of thin cloth and cognitive dissonance makes them die on that sword. Particularly evident if religious or political beliefs are involved but just as applicable here.
Worse are the cretins who thrive in tabloid mentality and fill the air with the worse type of slanderous fabrications not even hoping for vindication but for it's exploitive or destructive capability.

If you are going to try to call someone out but you are too cowardly to use your name you aren’t someone worth listening to.

Yeah right, with your line of thinking, 99% of the crimes and truths that came out because of secrete whistle blowers would not have been revealed and Nixon's Watergate, the Iran–Contra scandal and other crimes would not have come out to light and the crooks would have been made out to be heroes.

All the tags should be permanently attached to a depth gauge for verification. It costs peanut.

Depth gauges aren't accurate enough for Guinness. Thats why they worked on the rope (materials, stretch and angle in water with weight) which gives a relatively solid gauge of depth. Most commercial diver depth gauges aren't accurate enough at the limit of their range, changes in water temp and salinity will also play a role, as they measure ATA not absolute depth below surface, even a stormy day will throw them off. Not an issue for diving as we need ATA for deco, not absolute depth, but it's enough of an issue to make them unreliable for world record purposes.

BS, facts are facts, whether they are reported by a named or unnamed source is unimportant, whats important is whether their allegations stand up to close examination, clearly they have as the record holder himself has struggled to explain the discrepancies the unnamed source highlighted.
Also, you might want to consider the political situation in Egypt atm. Just might make sense to remain anonymous when questioning the veracity of a major achievement by a state employee. There's a reason why whistleblower legislation is needed to protect the identity of whistleblowers, even in first world countries.

You are very right especially considering that the diver in question is a member of the Egyptian military who are ruling Egypt.

Ahmed is not a serving member of the military and hasn’t been for several years.

He is special forces but not in active duty. Very close with the Military now.

BTW, he is touting his military background in every opportunity he can.

This forum has many respectful technical divers who have really good practical expertise and theory understanding of tech diving. I think it is needed to focus on discrepancies identified (does not matter who raised these questions). I am just a beginner tech diver, however, when I read questions raised and Ahmed Gabr's responses I really started to doubt whether this record is not a scam. If you are honest and really achieved this record, you would be able to provide very good and logical responses to questions. Now Ahmed's responses are not convincing. Especially when he is indicating that everything is ok when his dive computer is not working, when he is breathing wrong gas, when he meets support diver on the wrong depth..... even beginners would say that this is very odd.

Another point is about anonymity. Some people from the first world countries fail to understand simple facts when you live in the third world country, which is ruled by military, it is not very easy to openly confront army colonel (even if colonel is retired).
