Yes there are. I would like to point out that having emptied their tanks to 90 and 70 bar 17 min into the dive, it was apparent that D. and K. were hyperventilating. Our team still had >120 bar at that time, and got to the surface with 60 bar each after 15 min of ascent.
Good point, 17 min at 100 ft would be more like an RMV of around 0.65 with an AL 80. My calculation in post #6 would need to be adjusted

She was overweighted on all of her dives. This was the eighth of the trip.

I have to believe you made an effort to coach her to a more stable weighting solution. Did she rebuff your coaching?

why did the operator not have a DM monitor this buddy team instead of turning them loose on their own?

i dove this wreck as part of a northern itinerary and the operator had all divers that were on single tanks and not certified for deco to be escorted in groups of 4 by a DM. the other teams on doubles or ccr and appropriately experienced were allowed to plan their dives as they saw fit within a maximum run time.

iirc, there are fixed down lines to the wreck where stops can be done while hanging off, so no drift deco is required.

I personally don't see the over weighting or computer being issues - but probably more of a compounding of things that lead to maybe a poor decision to chase the weight.

If the weight pocket stays put, the dive is probably completed no problem.

Any incident is a tragedy, my regards to her family.

I was going to say something very similar but I have dove many places that put you in the water on your own, maybe a DM is there but they don't hand hold or surface as a group...........

With 200 dives, that's a good bit of experience for someone who isn't a pro. Certainly enough to not exude "this person needs a DM" to the operator. Keep in mind, the OP only found out about the weighting and computer issues after the fact. That means she apparently wasn't complaining too loudly since it's a small RIB and he still didn't notice.

In my mind, I can't reconcile the experience and seeming lack thereof exhibited by the diver. Seems "off" to me.

According to the report, this was planned as a deco dive by the operator. Yet the divers had single tanks? That seems off to me as well. Maybe they regularly run fast and loose in Egypt?

@kelemvor

even with 200 dives, it did not sound like the victim had the background experience for the dive in question.
Perhaps not. The whole thing sounds bad to me. I was just realizing that they took 28% to a planned depth of 60m? Did I calculate it right, they planned on ~1.7ppo2? There was more badness going on here than meets the eye.

No, planned depth on Rosi is 40m. And doing a little deco on a 80cft is not uncommon in Egypt. With the right boat, the right DM and the right people you do dives that you do not brag about when you come back. 30-40-60 is the rule.
The acident sounds like real bad luck.
