So reading the excellent arrival and departure thread. Just to be clear for my go-pro and backup light, the only batteries I can expect to leave with are the ones inside those devices (regardless of them being in carry on or checked luggage)? Or did I read that wrong?

I'm not aware of anyone having battery issues leaving CZM in years. The place used to be notorious for confusing info on where and how to pack batteries and then confiscating batteries from carryon. It seems a few years ago Mexico got on board with the rest of the world that lithium batteries should be in carryon not checked. They should not be loose though I haven't heard of any specific issues. I bring lots of spares and those not in a device are kept in a container. There are containers for all types. Below are two kinds I use for my 16550-size and Gopro-size.

Thanks for the update/clarification!

I hand carried loose ones. They all (4x18650, 2x32650) are put in a small hard case but not a battery specific storage case.
I do put electrical tape on the contacts but I’ve been questioned about them.

I've had mixed experiences. I use a lot of rechargeable NiMH AA batteries for my camera and strobes. I always carry my batteries in my carry-on bag.

Some years I depart CZM with all of my batteries.

Some years the Mexicans confiscate all of batteries.

i carry batteries in my front pockets cause... well, you know....

Can you identify which years?

Hi there to all....I am sending my apologies regarding the Arrival and Departure Sticky as it has not been updated for a few years now...My intent was to get it updated in June of this year however Covid Cancelled that trip. Hopefully, I can give it another go next year....Best Regards....Double S

No worries! Appreciate you doing the initial work on the sticky! Anything urgent you think that a first time traveler should know about?

Just returned from Coz over the weekend with all my batteries in carry-on luggage and no problems. I did buy little plastic cases off Amazon to store the batteries in because i noticed that the TSA restriction says they must be carried in a manner where the ends cannot touch anything, but they didn't even check inside my pack with all my regs, lights, dive computers, batteries, etc. Hawaii TSA did a few years ago, so better safe than sorry.
