Welcome I also live in New York area, you will need a 7mil wetsuit for local Northeast Diving and you should look into joing a local dive club to connect with other local divers. New York Sea Gypsies is a great club with all levels of divers and they meet monthly in Manhattan..

7mm wow, just the idea of it is making me shiver, ahaha... does that mean the Scubapro MK11 reg and C370 2nd stage I am eyeing won’t work in these temperatures?

Water temps. in summer can reach into the mid 70s some years.

Of course they will , usually regs. will free flow if water temps are in low to mid 30 degree F. unless enviorment sealed top on first stage such as Apeks & Aqualung legends have.
