Egyptian Red Sea is actually the northern Red Sea, also in its most sothern parts. April-May is the "change" period and water temperatures can range from 22 to 25 degrees celcius, depending on when in this period and where -- roughly a degree or two warmer in St Johns compared to Brothers (it's quite a bit further south). A 7 mm would be advised for 3 dives/day or more on a liveaboard. A 5 mm would suffice for resort diving. August 28 degrees and 3-5 mm is good.

Hahaha! I prefer the names Farmer Jane and Farmer John, but that may be because I live on a small farm.
I hate renting wetsuits. Just the very idea of it. Ugh.
Maybe I'll take my farmer jane with me with a 1.5mm suit to wear underneath it. I adore my 1.5mm suit. Plus, that will give me 7.5mm over my core and 4.5mm on my arms and legs. Think that will be warm enough?

That should be fine. If not ask the crew for warm water when you come out, to poor into your suit. That helps.
