Had my stupid thought of the day, but how many Florida cave divers out there drink the surrounding water when deep in the springs?

You mean drink the water we just peed in?

I'm not a cave diver but have done a handful of springs and cavern dives. No ... never drank the water. Never crossed my mind but also not sure why I would.

Provided that the water is clean, clear, and moving -- yes! Feeling hydrated/not having a dry mouth allows me to feel comfortable and more relaxed, which has a mildly reductive effect on my air consumption.

High nutrient loading levels in some springs. Just because it is clear doesn't mean it is clean. Also, can get parasites/bacteria from spring water such as Giardia, E Coli, Clostridium etc. Do I drink spring water- hell no.
