Ridiculous.

I wonder if there is any way for us, the scuba community, to support the town.

Did the town ever support divers? The town is just as likely to make it a town beach for residents only.
@formernuke has the right idea, divers should openly support the businesses so they can put pressure on the town when they seek to restrict divers has they have for the past 40+ years.

No I make sure they know I'm diving and I'm not someone else is.
