Hey, I was teaching diving in the 80's (and diving in the 70's and 60's). Agree that I am old, not sure about the modifier "very." :)

No worries. All in fun. It was just that I recall coming up from a dive in 1967 and then I blinked and it is now 2021. Argh!

The real funny part is that on the top of this section in ScubaBoard it reads:
"Pre-1980 "Vintage" SCUBA methods and gear. Double hose regulators, horsecollar BC's, to long training programs. Sea Hunt, Jacques Cousteau and the early history of our sport."

In other words this section is for actually old (vintage) stuff, not about digital electronic stuff...

Three of the recent posts on this section has been about dive computers... I think it is funny that anyone would think that computer is old. Yes, I realize that some electronics, computers, cellphones, run in their own time scale... A 15 or even 10 year old laptop is ancient...

Don't get me wrong, I do like to see the questions about the old dive computers, but calling them "very old"... o_O

Personally I think some of this "slightly older" computers are interesting, so I don't mind at all that they show up here.

They may go unnoticed in the regular computer section. Some of the long time divers here, may have the most knowledge about them.

But, yes, the Bend-O-Matic is one of only two "analog computers" that I can think of truly belonging here. The other one that I can think of, would be the Farallon.

Note: I was one of the early contributors, sharing my opinion, to that description sentence at the top of this section, but I honestly don't have a strong opinion about what constitute vintage discusion... and it has been discussed to death...
It is all good.

Is that a mercury thermometer I see sticking out of the back? That would definitely count as “vintage.”

I know about The Brick, Orca Edge, ' cause a buddy of mine still dives his, but I didn't know they were in the analog dive computer business before that. Was it as effective as the ScubaPro?
