I traded my muzzle for a dive mask last June (2020). We just got back from a beautiful vacation to Curacao on Tuesday. The diving and the people were incredible. Fear is the only thing we have to conquer.

I am about ready to go for a run. I will do my stretching exercises. I will do 60 curls, 60 pull-ups, and 60 push ups. I ate relatively healthy while in Curacao. I only gained 1/2 pound there.

Lose weight, get fit, and go diving. Dam(n) the C-19! If I can lose 20 pounds from one year ago so can you. My T-8 federal physical exam was a smashing success. Best numbers I have had in many years.

I am alive again! Fear and constant fear porn from Karen's has got to end! Fauci was not the science, Farr's law was the science. I fear The Warp Speed experimental vaccine, but I got jabbed anyway and it almost killed me. I overcame my fear of the experimental vaccine and survived. So can you.

Go diving people, go diving!

cheers,
markm
I am assuming that you are addressing your comments to me since you quoted and are responding to my post.

I don't know you. Yet you seem to think it is appropriate to tell me to get fit and lose weight. I have seen a lot of arrogant comments on ScubaBoard, but this comes close to topping the list.

I have spent three weeks in Florida over the last year. I just got back on Tuesday. Florida is great. Floridians got outside in the salt water and salt air and lived their lives. Their data is some of the best in the country. They relied on peer pressure and it worked well. Personal responsibility works, if you let it.

Thank you Florida for helping me cope with C-19!

cheers,
markm

Did you bother reading what @tursiops posted? As with all things, the answer is not black and white.

And Florida has a highly transient/visitor population. Most covid numbers are counted at place of residence not testing site. A significant number of our covid positives had just returned from vacation in Florida. Although infected in Florida their numbers showed up here.

Don’t know if the same is true for California.

It is interesting how people on the periphery can tell people in the trenches what is really happening.

Good attitude, but I don’t think fear is the only thing we have to conquer. We need to balance the risk of contracting the virus when traveling by getting vaccinated, following the COVID-19 protocols (self distancing, wearing mask when self distancing is not possible, washing hands before touching things that are not belong to me, self quarantining after returning home, etc.).

I’ve been traveling since December last year (Cocos in December, Socorro in January, Belize in February, Maldives in March, Salt Lake City in April, back to Socorro in May) and have 5 more to go for the rest of the year (Malpelo in July, Guadalupe in August, Cocos in September, Tiger Beach in October, Tromso in November). The chances of contracting the virus is high if I don’t follow the protocol. I still am COVID-19 free, knock on wood, fingers crossed.

Exercising is good. I go bicycling > 120 miles / week when I’m not diving somewhere.

Not sure what you meant by being vaccinated almost killed you. I just got a bit of a headache and sore arm for a day after the 2nd shot.

Hi Hoag,

Sorry, that was unintentional. I was referring to people in general and not you. I am sorry if I offended you--that was not my intent.

I hope you recover from my faux pas soon.

I am preaching again: the biggest comorbidity is being overweight especially combined with age for C-19. I am not fat-shaming; I am asking. Please everyone, review your caloric intake and exercise hard and often.

When our societies locked down, the enemy was already within our homes, her name was Little Debbie.

Not sure what you meant by being vaccinated almost killed you. I just got a bit of a headache and sore arm for a day after the 2nd shot.

I was crippled by muscle cramps and spasms. I had other side affects. I wondered if my neck was about to snap. I could not move to call an ambulance and I could not get in the car to go to the ER. I am alive and kicking, so I obviously survived. I have not felt like that since I suffered an anaphylactic response from yogurt (I am allergic to yogurt). I was paralyzed on the floor and was loosing respiration with the yogurt incidents.

Exercising is good. I go bicycling > 120 miles / week when I’m not diving somewhere.

My wife and I just rode 15 miles. The run was good. And now the rest.

cheers,
m

I don't live my life in reverse. I am not a handwringer. People died in Florida. Good people died. Is Florida's data better than most all of the states? Yes it is.

Sorry, I don't see Tursiops' posts.

thanks,
markm

What makes you think I am so weak that I need to recover? I actually find your unique blend of arrogance and condescension somewhat amusing.

Until recently, anecdotal evidence is all we had. Now we have lots of data that is full of anomalies. There is no perfect black and white answer.

Hi uncfnp,

Again, exercise more and live your lives. That's my opinion. Your opinion is just as valid as mine and you can discard my opinion anytime you wish.

If my opinion offends people, than maybe they should look in the mirror. I work for a school district that was in session all year. I work directly with puking, coughing, and hacking kids who gladly and graciously gave me their germs. Some got C-19 and passed it on to staff. Thankfully, we all survived quite well. We were lucky that we did not lose anyone. On any given day, I may come in contact with blood, puke, and sputum. Kids don't get the bio hazard thing. They grab me because they want me to help them. God love them all! Sick or not. It is very hard not to gain an emotional attachment to each and every one of them--even the ones who are needy.

Life goes on.

How is your Mom doing?

cheers,
m

I just admitted my mistake because I did not give my opinion succinctly. You had good cause to think that I was referring to you directly because I wrote my sentence poorly. And now you are double butt-hurt because I apologized to you. Triggered much?

cheers,
m
