hundreds of hours studying Dr Pyle and deep stop theory, DCS fundamentals even if the science is in its infancy

This probably makes you a world expert far more than what Dr. P was/is, unless you are a very slow reader that's easily distracted of course.

Hahahahahaha

You know that by just riding a bike no CAT Scan or any follow up by a pulmonary function test or even visiting a specialist? You know that have absolutely no lung scaring without any confirmation of any kind by a medical specialist? You have x-ray vision too?
My sister had a mild case of covid and later she took a CT scan and the doc found "suspicious" areas in her lung. After much confusion eventually, she got clearance to dive. Moral of the story is, it make sense do CT scan before getting covid in order to be able to compare.

We had arguments about this when I was on staff. The word "troll" has a specific definition in terms of the Internet, and under that definition, trolling itself is both intentional and a ToS violation. I argued that honestly calling out intentional trolling behavior should be allowed and should be no more of a violation than calling chillyinCanada a Canadian.

The response usually was that you can call out the behavior without calling someone a name. The example would be that it is OK to say that a statement someone made was idiotic, but it is not OK to say that person is an idiot. I get that. There is a difference. Anyone can make a statement that, in hindsight, turned out to be idiotic. I have some instances in my biography. That does not make that person an idiot. No one participating in these forums is an idiot, and no one intends to make idiotic statements. When it comes to trolling, though, trolling behavior is intentional; the person is intentionally being a troll.

Look up the many sock puppets under which the oft-banned IdocStave has abused ScubaBoard for an example of an out and out troll.

I, for one, do not believe Dody is a troll. Not at all.
I am not. Respectfully. And I believe that some are creating a storm in a glass of water (french expression. Don’t know how to say it in english). Some people don’t like what I post or what I say, the way I say it, my prose, whatever. But if it is so senseless, why do they interact? We are on an internet forum. On one hand, posters like Uncfcp want to piss me off, calling out troll and reacting like Pavlov dogs. I have not insulted or attacked anyone. I am just posting stories that I believe are of interest. Who is the troll? The one who is posting or the guy who reacts offensively hidden behind his alias and his screen? You don’t like a post? Disregard it. Get a life, get yourself a hobby, a girlfriend or a boyfriend and move on. We are not on SB to change the world. This is not a political platform. Nobody expects that from us.

The interaction and dialogue in Dody threads is symbolic of what scubaboard stands for.
Genuine care and concern towards mankind. Even when mankind is adamantly stubborn - verging on auto nocentibus.

I'm glad people you like exist and I hope the auto nocentibus decide to take enlightened paths.

I understand your point and until today would have agreed. But recent posts are so completely clueless and pointless except for the sake of argument that I no longer believe his efforts are completely benign.

Get a life and move on.

I guess it's part of the ageing process; I go to the doctor when I feel I have to and don't waste their time otherwise. I had a bout of the bat-flu and have to accept that probably being double-jabbed attenuated its affects to be a simple cold / man-flu. At no time was I coughing although I did have the classic sore nasal cavity (and lost the sense of smell for a couple or four days). I've never had a scan of any kind, a few X-rays aside.

I know that one day I'll not be able to dive any longer; until that day comes I'm off diving as much as I can. Especially now it's warming up.

When your number's up, that's it. Until then get on with life, it's not a rehearsal.

And sorry to hear of your sister's problems. Hopefully it's all sorted now.

So are you saying that you truly believe that your ending is foreordained and there is nothing you can do to change it?

I have heard people saying it. I never see them put on dark clothes and talk abross a multi-lane superhighway at night to prove their belief.

He was the pioneer. And really the science is still in its infancy.
Now I know you're taking the piss :)

Edit: but you're right in one way; decompression science is still fundamentally a mathematical model. More statistics really. The science is in its infancy as there's no accurate way of telling when someone gets DCI - many cases of undeserved bends.

There was a lot more to deep stops than Pyle stops. As you'll see if you read around a bit, there's pretty much a consensus (one or two "experts" aside) that deep stops aren't necessary. Look up the Gradient Factors discussions too.

Watch some of Simon Mitchell's presentations. Those are good lectures.

Definitely not like that. But I'm fatalistic enough to say that sometimes **** happens (pardon my french) and life changes. Should that happen, embrace it all the time you've breath in your body.

For diving we need to be fit and healthy. Our lungs and circulatory systems have to work properly -- lest we get bent. We need our wits about us -- lest we get into trouble. Sight, fitness, joints, strength, medication, yada yada. I know so many people who simply cannot dive because of their health. I intend to dive for as long as I can, then give up and go sailing/whatever.
