Catalina island was great. Got to see a fabled giant black sea bass! It was several feet long and about 450 pounds. Amazing, I was totally hoping to see one!

Somewhat crowded topside, but scuba park itself at Casino point never felt crowded at all. A good number of divers, snorkelers, and free-divers. Water was about 70 at the surface, 60's below. Felt warm and comfy with a 7 mm and hood.

As I've never been there can't say if the amount of kelp was low or not, but there was a very nice kelp forest especially on the eastern side of Casino point park (to the right of the stairs as you look at the water).

Rental prices seem pretty similar around the island, I rented a 7 mm for $20 for 24 hours. See the attached image below for a typical price list.

You came at a great time- weather and conditions have greatly improved and have been fantastic lately. Glad you got to enjoy our waters.
