    USS Moray (SS-300) Photogrammetry Model

190, Trip Report : USS Moray Submarine (San Clemente Island — 190 fsw) Color me super jealous. I keep hearing rumors the navy is either leaving or toning down operations on the island, but I doubt it. If they do, maybe more people eventually can visit. But guess that's a double edged sword...

    Passport warnings, several...

There is a FedEx store near our house that says it can guarantee passport renewal inside of a week. The catch you ask? The $1,200 fee for the service.

    Shearwater Cloud or MacDive?

yeah, same experience. I push my Petrel 1 to Shearwater and to Subsurface (and update the time) via a spare Android I have. For CCR dives I just use my Nerd 2 for the data, or glance at the shearwater logs. I have contemplated upgrading to the latest Petrel though. That Petrel 1 also refuses to...

    Shearwater Cloud or MacDive?

Ditto. Also if you connect a Shearwater device to a mobile shearwater cloud app, it updates the dive computer clock. Very handy when traveling.

    Shearwater Cloud or MacDive?

I have and use both. I personally prefer MacDive. MacDive imho, unfortunately needs 2 purchases to be fully utilized. The MacOS license and the iOS/iPadOS one. Use the mobile one to import and run the GPS tracker for auto dive site tagging. Then use the MacOS one for any heavy editing, typing...

quick Oahu report - Island Divers 7/6 and 7/7 2023

Interesting…. We were supposed to be diving on that 3 tank boat but had to cancel due to an injury and a head cold. We would have been diving CCR with a local. We had called in advance and it seemed like if stayed out of deco we could expect about an hour dives, based on the boat. It was never...

Question What wetsuit is easiest to get off?

Lycra suit and socks will help with that. Makes it super easy to pull off a suit from 2/3 to a 7 mil. Also nice on the surface interval to have a slightly damp sun protection on (for places where I’d dive a 3mil suit, less ideal but even more required for 7mil suits lol). You can be really...

Question What wetsuit is easiest to get off?

They are all easy if you wear a Lycra suit and socks underneath. Then you can focus on more Important criteria for picking a suit.

Going through the airport with my gear for the first time

I agree in principle. The list I think is subjective. I always say bring things you know you have a hard time getting fit correctly. I have a hell of a time with masks, but wife does with boots/fins. So we each prioritize them differently.

Going through the airport with my gear for the first time

I only use a pelican case for my CCR (rEvo) since I agree. I know some will take the rEvo as their carryon, I just can’t do that with my back. So it goes in a pelican case with a AirTag and a separate insurance policy lol. They are also ungainly to store/lug around. In your carryon I would put...

Titanic tourist sub goes missing sparking search

Having had the chance to fly high enough to see the curve of the earth (military aircraft past FL500) and also flying in the far north seeing the aurora borealis effect in full strength, this is a very accurate statement. No screen how good can compare to having seen those with my own eyes.
