Aluminum 80's made during the 70's

The scary Part of this is that the shop owners Don't have the Gumption to really know about a safety hazard and the willingness to train there staff. What else are they painting with a large brush:dontknow:. If learning the truth about Al tanks and training the staff to too much, I have to...

I think I have been "had" just a bit

To:syntaxerrorsix the point was that,my old tank is made of the same allow and his new tank. I have a hard time paying $200 to a LDS for a new tank that is the same as my old tank. The policy of the store is that NO Al tank over 15 years is to be filled. The metallurgist part is because he has...

I think I have been "had" just a bit

To the OP: You might have been take a little but not that bad. The one thing that gets me in all this is that the LDS is refusing to fill at tank because of rumors and misinformation. That leads me to ask a few question about the "life support equipment" and the "life saving training" from this...

Are you a recreational, rectech or technical diver.

I just think it is a cross of categories that don't go together. One is why and the other is a level of training. why do the dive.. recreational, commercial, military Level of training required.. Non tech, tech. Tech is also a unberlla term for Cave, wreck and deep diving. Non tech...

    Today's OW Course

Well... Lets take this the the extreme just for the sake of argument. If the classed get to short and turn out suck horrible divers then the boat captains will require more certification or not recognize certification from Z or Y group. This will lead to a demise of the universal certification...

    Today's OW Course

I agree with you on this point. I think the real problem is the "diver mill" way of training.I believe training speed is a problem not the course it self. I had a few weeks before class to learn the bookwork and swam in the pool. This helped me just consecrate on the dive I was doing and...

    Today's OW Course

I think the real question here is that amount of training required to dive. From what I have read here, a person should not even THINK about having a reg in there mouth anywhere closer that a mile from any body of water unless they have had at least GUE-F or SAR training or military...

    US Navy Decompression Table

The tables can backup your computer BUT The computer is very reliable and there is very small chance the it will fail. I agree with fire diver that if the computer fails then end the dive and them figure out your group and new NDLs on the surface. I believe that the chances of misreading tables...

    Making your own weights

The problem in car batteries is the plates. The plates are made of lead oxide and lead sufate which is not good to have around. :shakehead: I would only use the straps and posts of the battery, basicly the solid parts.
