Yes, the USN has excellent diver trg but I wouldn't really call it a SCUBA program. I myself am not that familiar USN diver trg but I'm sure others on this board are. I know some NSW, EOD techs and Navy divers who would be happy to answer your questions, or you could go see your local...
The live aboard rule is just a liability thing. I don't drink and dive but I've dove hungover many a time and lived to tell the tale. No, I don't recommend it and I always have a chamber on site.:crafty: :shakehead:
DIT will give you a DCBC unrestricted surface supplied diver certificate (HSE Part 1 equivalent) which is good. Becoming a commercial diver right now isn't so good. The price of oil is starting to rise as a result of the strife in the middle east which is good (if you're a commercial diver)...
Why was the dive conducted on SCUBA in the first place? I am not familiar with the OHSA down there but in BC that dive would be strictly surface supplied with a four man crew.
A note to all you young commercial divers out there trying to climb the ranks... You can always say no.
At the bottom of an open pit copper mine that is being fed by a freshwater spring from somewhere below. 100-200 feet visibility in crystal clear water with a turquoise hue to it. Simply amazing!!!
