Dock fees have jumped the shark at the Cozumel Palace

Well Don I’m thinking that this proposal will crash and burn! I know that a number of my friends will not stay there if this is enforced. All inclusive……I think not!

Dock fees have jumped the shark at the Cozumel Palace

Aqua Safari sold their dive op to the Palace four or five years ago. I’m afraid that the dive op has being going downhill since. Perhaps the Palace thinks that by charging this pier fee that divers will use their dive operation as opposed to others. Sad to see the decline of what was once a...

With Boeing in Cross Hairs, Lion Air Gets a Pass on Poor Safety Record

Almost all of the airlines in Indonesia are in the worst ten airlines rating. You really have very little choice when travelling in Indonesia. That being said the risk is still very small.

Real Time Blue Manta Review: Banda Sea 9 – 19 Sept 2019

I agree. The first week on the boat they did not have the usual dinners so was a repeat buffet similar to the lunch. It was a request by one of the groups and was not discussed with the rest of the passengers. Next week back to normal with a la carte dinner and deserts. Dani aka Batman is one of...

Marine park fees generate 12 million pesos in 2018, fees increase in 2019

Yes as I understand the fees collected for the marine park go into the general Mexican coffers not back to the Cozumel marine park. There is a marine park pass that will get you a year of diving in any marine park in Mexico for around $20 however we tried to get it here in Cozumel and the marine...

    Night Dives in November

Hola Dave. Was there not a meeting approximately four weeks ago that said there was going to be a crackdown on enforcing the marine park rules? Specifically targeting the use of pointer sticks, gloves and knives as well as advocating that dive masters report on other ops that they see in...

    Another quick trip report

This is very atypical for turtle behaviour even though I have no doubt that this one has been trained to eat lion fish. I would like to see a marine biologist's opinion about green turtles eating any kind of fish aside from invertebrates!

    Another quick trip report

Oh ya!! A green turtle! Likely the same one. As I have said I have not seen this turtle behaviour before! Most of us were surprised that it would go after a fish other than invertebrates such as jellies. I will no longer hunt lion fish in certain dive sites in the parc such as Cedral due to the...

    Another quick trip report

@macado Hey Mike. Was that a green turtle that was harassing you? You may recall our good friend and dive buddy Gary W. posted on Facebook in February about his encounter with a turtle attacking his stringer. I believe that was at Punta Sur Sur and he was with Jorge. I had never heard of a...
