First trip to Coz ~ Dec. 19-27

When we stayed at Iberostar Paraiso Beach three years ago, our oldest was 12 at the time and he did a cenotes dive with Dressel. Assuming they didn't violate PADI regulations, junior divers can do cenotes.

firstdive, We've been very pleased with Dressel in the Dominican Republic and the Mayan so we'd planned on using them this time too.

Oops -- here's some 411.:dork2: Our son is 15 y/o and he's a certified rescue diver. Our daughter is 13 y/o and she's an advanced junior diver. My husband is an advanced diver. Both of the kids have done all of their training and certification either with Dressel Divers or Scuba...

First trip to Coz ~ Dec. 19-27

We're heading to Coz for the first time - staying at Iberostar. Are there any "just can't miss" dive sites that you'd suggest for my husband and teenagers?:grinbandit:

Thank you, mitchsea and sanjac. For the price, it sounds like it's worth the investment. We'll get to test it out in Isla starting August 1st.

    Considering 1030 SW and PT-043

I agree with buying a few memory cards. I believe the sales person told us that the Olympus XD cards aren't available in 4GB -- it's 1GB or 2GB.

    Considering 1030 SW and PT-043

That was my suspicion too. It's $400 for the camera, $280 for the underwater housing, $30 for a 1 GB XD picture card, plus a Neoprene case and a floating strap so actually it would be more than $800 once I added tax.:(

    Considering 1030 SW and PT-043

Yes, I realize that. Perhaps I didn't clearly state what I meant. I don't really want to spend $800 on an Olympus 1030 and underwater housing and find it wasn't the best choice for us at this time.

    Considering 1030 SW and PT-043

Thanks for all the great stuff, Alcina. I'll check out the Sticky tomorrow morning while I have my coffee. I hadn't seen it. Glad you mentioned it! As far as Canons go, we have an A85 (4 megapixel). Do you think that's too outdated for an underwater housing?

Thanks Cheddar. It looks like the SP-350 has been replaced with the 550, 560 or 570 models ... correct?

    Considering 1030 SW and PT-043

The crunch is on. We're leaving for vacation on the 15th so if we're going to invest in an underwater camera for this trip, the clock is ticking. We went in a camera shop on the weekend and the 1030 caught my husband's attention. Since this would be our first underwater camera other than a...

    Let me introduce myself

Hi there divers, I'm in the minority at our house. My husband is an advanced diver. Our 14 y/o son is a junior advanced diver (soon to be rescue diver) and our 12 y/o daughter is a junior open water diver (soon to be junior advanced). The thought of diving scares the pants off me so I...
