    Diving in New Zealand

Launching at high tide from hatfields is a breeze, at low tide the ramp is totally dry and you will be retreiving your boat off the beach and the beach has gentle slope. So your may have to drive your vehicle into the water, thats if you have a big boat, otherwise you can walk the tralier...

    Diving in New Zealand

hey Packhorse, Launching from Hatfields is a better bet than from Wenderholm. Wenderholm has a boat ramp but is sometimes impossible to get through the channel at low tide. Hattfields has a better ramp, but i hope you like gettnig the back axle of your truck salty at low tide. i used these two...

    TransPac vs Halcyon Pioneer

Hi, i need a new BC and my work is willing to buy me somthing. I have been reading a few post about the TransPac. I like the looks of the transPac and the ability to add or subtract components. My work uses Halcyon gear and i have dived with the gear once and seen them in action...and i wasn't...

    Suunto D6, thoughts please

I just strapped on my new D6...looks ok, not the prettest of watches, however the menue's are all pretty straight forward and easy to navigate and the compass seems to work ok, if not a bit touchy and slow to react sometimes...will hopefully get it wet next week! I love new toys :D

    Looking for digital depth gauge

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows if i can get a digital depth gauge that i can mount in front of my camera so i can shoot underwater video transects and have a depth readout in the shot. That way i can tell at what depth the image was filmed at? I have tried a analogue gauge, but the needle...

    Suunto D6, thoughts please

I had a feeling the compass was more of a gimmick, while diving i would still have my old computer (suunto) and compass console as a back up, but work wants me to get a wrist computer and they are willing to get suunto, which i have used for the last 10 years. I have been thinking about the...

    Fine tuning Mares Abyss

Thanks for the diagram! The internals of the 2nd stage is quite simple, (looking for a exloded diagram actually!) the seat sits inside a seat connector, can adjust the distance that the seat extends out from the connector, but the manual recommends to extend the seat all the way out then...

    Fine tuning Mares Abyss

Hi, Was wondering if anyone has a few tips for fine tuning Abyss 2nd stage. I have the correct manuals and instructions, i.e. setting demand lever to approx 8mm above the reg body. But i find fine-fine tuning involves a series of blind adjustments to the lever lock nut. Whereas with other regs...

    Mares MR22/ABYSS vs Scubapro mk25/s600

The Abyss! Easy breathing at any depth and simple to pull apart when servicing is needed. Most bullet proof!

    Mares regulators

Hi, I have an Abyss as well and serviced it today (After doing over 500 dives in 3 years) it was operating fine and was breathing fine at 120 feet, I only serviced it cause i had nothing better to do at work. I think the Abyss is great, tough and most bullet proof!

    suunto gekko

Get a downloadable dive computer, saves time logging dives in the long run!!! Without the dive plan you could easily run into problems in the field if you don't know your dive tables off by heart (i'm sure not many do). With a quick look at the dive plan you can see how deep and for how long...

    Electronic dive log

Hi, I know this is the wrong catergory to be asking about dive logs, but i know there are quite few of you out there who really know their stuff and are very helpful to gummbies such as myself. Now my query is this, i was wondering if anyone has come across or is using a good electronic dive...

    Electronic dive logs???

Hi, Was wondering if anyone has come across or is using a good electronic dive log that is downloadable from the net and isn't shareware (i.e won't expire in 30 days)? I've got over 1500 dives floating around in various log books, it would be very handy (for occupational diving certification...

    Nano Apollo computer

Hi! I've got a friends computer (Apollo Nano, purchased 1999) and the batteries are knackered. Does anyone out there, know if you can replace the batteries yourself? Or is it a factory job? Also does anyone have owner manuals and or service manuals for this type of computer? Thanks in advance!
